11-4-24 THOUGHTS
The theme of our reading this morning is found in Prov 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.” Then some other passages: Ps 68:35 “O God, [You are] awesome from Your sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God!” Ps 105:4 “Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.” Isa 40:31 “Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up [with] wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.”
Ps 33:11-22 The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. 13 The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; 14 From His dwelling place He looks out On all the inhabitants of the earth, 15 He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works. 16 The king is not saved by a mighty army; A warrior is not delivered by great strength. 17 A horse is a false hope for victory; Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength. 18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness, 19 To deliver their soul from death And to keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in His holy name. 22 Let Your lovingkindness, O LORD, be upon us, According as we have hoped in You.
My Prayer:
O God, may we hope fully in You, that Your loving kindness may follow us always. Help us to not seek strength in wrong places. Help us to see rejoicing as we trust in Your Holy name. May we wait on You always, our God. Bless our day, and help us to bless You in that day. We love you and praise You in the name of Jesus, Amen.
